I just discovered that David Ivers and Brian Vaughn have been named the new artistic directors at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. I was explaining to Steve why this is very good news and why we need to visit Cedar City and eat over-priced tarts and see fantastic productions.
Steve: Yeah, we can do that in the future.
MBC: The near future?
Steve: Nooo, we don't have enough money in the near future. We can see Shakespeare in Scotland, though.
MBC: But we can't eat at the Pastry Pub in Scotland.
Steve: No, but we can eat at an actual pub here.
MBC: But the Pastry Pub has that one kind of cake I really like.
Steve: We could drive to Paris and buy you cake at a superior bakery for less than it would cost us to go to Cedar City.
MBC: But one of my favorite thrift stores is in Cedar City.
Steve: We could fly to Turkey and attend a bazaar for less than it would cost us to go to Cedar City.
So, I suppose we can't go anytime soon.
And when we went back to the car boot sale this week, the baby wellies were gone.
And the cranberry juice we bought at Aldi is actually 'cranberry juice drink.'
And Mr. T is now selling cookware on infomercials. I saw it with my own eyes.
Life is full of disappointments.

*snort!* Steve is hilarious. And you should totally take him up on his offer. Not only do I not live remotely close to Cedar City (and thus miss out on the Festival), I also can not be consoled by French Bakeries and Turkish Bazaars as they are too far away as well. ;)
At the end of our honeymoon we stopped at a grocery store for lunch on the way to the airport. I bought juice for myself. My husband wanted chocolate milk. He was about to pick up a bottle when I said, "Hey, this one's a lot cheaper!" He grabbed the one I indicated and off we raced. There was no turning back by the time he opened his bottle, took a drink and realized our mutual mistake. It was not chocolate milk; it was chocolate drink. So sad. He holds onto this grudge even more tightly than the one about telling him his final was on a different day.
MarmotMamma's great disappointment last week was BEING in Cedar City, but unable to drop in at the Pastry Pub because of 4 very grimy campers who smelled to nasty even to be in any sort of pub anywhere. We said to each other ... "one day." Sighed. Drove back home to Provo. MarmDad
This is a lot to deal with all at once. Be strong...find a good pastry...do not be swayed by Mr. T's powers of persuasion to buy anything.
Lady Susan--He is very amusing and, yes, I should be consoled by my proximity to lots of super cool European stuff. (But I still want to go to Cedar City.)
CSIowa--Yes, I see that you understand the pain of the 'drink' drink. They're so bad.
MarmDad--I'm afraid you'll finally make it there and then be disappointed after all this waiting.
Eliana--I will try to resist Mr. T, but he has good deals on steamers.
Isn't this just the most wonderful news!!! I've been telling everyone I run into but no one has given me correctly excited response!
