Bugs

I had an appointment in Atlanta with the border agency the day after Steve and I arrived in the US. Steve wasn't allowed in the building for my appointment, so he stayed outside and waited for me to finish. When I came outside, I found him sitting on the grass with his pants tucked into his socks. He was worried about chiggers and ticks and "those bugs that eat your brain." I am not afraid of chiggers or ticks or brain-eating bugs, but I do not care for bugs. Every night I have to check our bedroom walls and floor and sit on the bed calling out to Steve, "I just saw something move. Oooh, it's right there. Right there! Can you kill it? Oh, can you kill it and take it away? Is it gone? Is it gone? (pause) Agh! Mosquito! It's touching me! It's biting me!"

Tomorrow I might start tucking my pants into my socks. I've decided it's not a bad idea.

(I have found an Internet source conveniently located up the road from our cottage, so there may be pictures soon.)

Do share more about the "bugs that eat your brain."

Good, Steve's doing his husbandly duties as chief bug slayer. As to mosquitos I recommend a bath in OFF! brand Skintastic or Muskol. Muskol works best but is not very feminine smelling. Like Marm Dad I need to learn about the brain eating bugs.

Addendum for Marm Dad's benefit. There are no chiggers in Nova Scotia, ticks are only found in a small area in south central NS. It's also the only place where there are deadly snakes. So we just don't go there.

That is SO Steve.

Marm Dad-He saw some TV special or news program about someone who had a strange (probably South American) bug/worm enter her foot and all the way up to her brain. I find it highly unlikely that such a creature lives in the grass outside the Atlanta suburbs.

But if were YOUR foot and YOUR brain in Atlanta, betcha you'd believe it then! (Just sayin'). Love to all, MarmotDad
