Today

Thumbs Down
  • Contacting Summer Reading Sponsors--My sister can participate in the summer reading program this year. I hope she wins a whole boatload of loot to make up for the many miserable, pleading phone calls I have placed to our sponsors over the years.
  • Waking Up Early in the Morning (in the RAIN) to Go to the Dentist--All three wisdom teeth are coming out. I'm very excited to have a legitimate excuse to stay home from work for a few days eating Thin Mint ice cream and watching movies.

Thumbs Up
  • Travel Agents--AJ and I have been puzzling over our week in Greece, but last night we realized that the Greek ferry system (and the official train website--anybody want to take a guess at what "edisy" means--it's a heading on the English page) is beyond mortal comprehension. The aid of Zeus is necessary to get from Sifnos to Rhodes. Or the aid of a travel agent.
  • Using My Powers for Good--I have two superpowers that I generally keep on the down low. (1) I'm very good at pulling out the EXACT number of pieces of paper I need for my photocopying needs. Don't ask to see a demonstration. It doesn't work under pressure. (2) I am excellent at shortening booklist annotations. Today someone actually needed this power. It would have been even better if I'd had a cape.

Your power saved me today! Thanks so much for fixing the annotations.

Also your paper power, I don't always get the exact number of pages I need, but pretty close!

If only I can one day be as cool as you MBC!

Greece...ferry system...thin mint ice cream...All of this goodness is balanced out by calling sponsors. I feel for you. Have you tried the Dreyer's Samoas ice cream? Divine.

Listen very carefully to every word your dentist says about dry pockets and what you need to do to avoid them.

And I hope you are not allergic to Loritab. That is the pain medication they gave me after my surgery. All it took was blacking out once to get the prescription changed.

On those notes, have a great surgery!

Ann-Marie--I'm so happy to see that chicken picture!

Eliana--I LOVE the Samosas ice cream, but I can't find it this year. My grocery store only has the Thin Mint.

Kirsten--I had one wisdom tooth out before and I quite enjoyed my Loritab, so I think I'll be good. Thanks!

They conveniently didn't tell me they knocked a molar loose while taking out one of my wisdom teeth. I went through the first batch of Loritab in 2 days! Of course, I also worked 3 shifts at work in those 2 days. *sigh* what we do when we're 18 and need money for school.

And I hear you on the SRP contacting. I miss how it was split up there. I do bout 90% of the contacting for ours. OK, so that's because last year I just sort of took over to ensure we got SOMETHING and somehow that made me the go-to expert (whatever!). And now I just have trouble letting go of something if I'm not sure that it's actually going to be done. I should learn to stop that.

I hope things went well with the teeth!

Does your library give good loot for the reading programs? Cause ours sure doesn't. I usually don't let my kids do them because I can't stand more JUNK! Same reason they don't get happy meals with trashy toys . . .

Heidi--Fortunately, I get to take off four days of work when my teeth come out. Hurray for sick leave!

Amy--I'm not sure what they give out in the Children's department except for t-shirts and ice cream coupons, but in our department we hand out books, DVDs, movie tickets, camping gear, iPods, restaurant gift certificates, gift baskets from the bakery--great stuff! I really want one of those bakery gift baskets . . .
