How I Spent My Summer Vacation Weekend
We spend almost every Saturday at the allotment. Our red currants are fruiting and we saw our first potato plant this week!
Steve brought back culinary treats from his trip to Coventry, including Jamaican jerk sauce and gungo peas (which elicit the Gungo Pea Dance from Steve). Sunday Steve made jerk chicken with fresh pineapple and gungo peas and rice. This picture does not do justice to the deliciousness. The gungo pea mixture is full of coconut milk and sweet potato. Mmmm.
After dinner we went walking on the beach.
The building at the end of the beach is this Norman Castle built by William the Conqueror.
The tide was out.
And I wore inappropriate footwear.
We also visited the rock gardens full of flowers above the beach.
I love weekends.

I'm liking the red socks and look forward to seeing the gungo pea dance. KWB
I'm not so worried about your shoes as about your PANTS (sorry, trousers). Are they polyester or what??
I am insanely jealous of you.
Also, it is snowing here so be glad you got out.
Is that one of those mud flats where the tide comes racing in over hundreds of yards of seafront with a holy terror that overtakes unsuspecting people clad in inappropriate footwear and drowns 'em right down? Be careful! MarmDad
KWB--I tried to make Steve do the dance for a visitor and he refused. You have to be in just the right place at the right time to catch it.
SCS--What you talkin' 'bout, Willis! Those are 100% cotton trousers and they're very lovely. You should be so lucky to have a pair yourself.
Yankee Girl--I've been hearing about the snow there. Our weather cooled off here, too, but not nearly that cold.
MarmDad--No, I think it's a mannerly British ocean that comes in with great warning, but I will be careful nonetheless.
Shoe pictures! Flowers! Spring!
