It's What's for Dinner

Did you ever see this book, a photographic chronicle of everything the author ate in 2004? It sounded interesting to me when I first read the reviews because (a) I like food and (b) I like to photograph my food (even without photography skills). So do lots of other people.

I took some unfortunate-looking photos of this week's dinners. Tonight: borscht.

Gungo Pea Masala
This was good, but Steve liked it more than I did and I think it's a dreary-looking dish. We forgot to pick up cilantro to sprinkle on top, which would have cheered it up.

BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwiches with Coleslaw
I love pulled pork and pulled chicken! It made such fantastic leftovers.

The night we had pulled chicken, Steve came home sad because he discovered that the planner he loves was featured on Stuff White People Like. He didn't like White People liking his planner and he didn't like his wife insisting on taking a picture of his dinner before he could eat. He told me he couldn't wait because "White people are hungry."

Fish Sticks - Don't judge.
These are not fish sticks. These are the carrot souffles, which I've mentioned before, that we ate with our fish sticks. We were in a super rush to get out the door this night, so there was no time for fish stick photography.

Giant Macaroni
Steve usually works late on Thursday, so we didn't have dinner planned last night and just finished off the last of the spaghetti sauce in the refrigerator. Steve bought these giant, spaghetti-length macaroni noodles in Coventry. They're fun to eat.

That book looks really fun, more fun than gungo beans.

Does the Queen approve of the giant macaroni? I think she should.

I've always loved your food pictures. It got me starting to take pictures of my own. It never looks as good as yours.

Eliana--You might be surprised. Gungo peas are a party.

E--Her official seal is not on the package, but if she knew . . .

ldsjaneite--Oh, thanks! My pictures still need lots of work. I never remember if the camera's on manual or automatic.
