Bargains BARGAINS Bargains

Since we need to make a lot of purchases to set ourselves back up in a new country, I check Kijiji twice a day for sale items and yard sales. Here's what I've discovered.

  • Lots of people think their used goods are very valuable and that you would like to pay $5 less than they paid for them 5 years ago new.  They are happy to show you their original receipt to help you realize that you are buying something that was actually expensive when purchased from a store.  These people are morons.
  • Lots of people don't know how to spell.
  • Lots of people don't know how to punctuate.
  • Lots of people think the word 'antique' means 'old junk stored in my barn that I would like you to pay lots of money to purchase.'
I ignore all the ads from those people and snatch up the good deals, like an apartment-sized washing machine on wheels that we have calculated will pay for itself in 3 months now that we're using cloth diapers and 160 canning jars in a variety of sizes for free.

We put up our first quarts of applesauce in our jars last night.  Woo hoo!

I think the sliced rings are extra fancy.  Also, apple corer/peeler/slicer purchased for $1.

My mother was an avid yard sale person. And after following in her wake I came to the same conclusions as you. The apple peeler corer slicer is an most excellent purchase. Never lend it to anyone without your supervision. We made that mistake once only to find that the lender used it to peel potatoes. It has never operated the same since.

KWB--Steve told me your sad potato peeling story while we were using our peeler.

Eliana--Yeah, people are morons everywhere.
