This is Where We Live

It is a gorgeous day here today, so I went into school with Steve this morning and wandered downtown for a couple of hours before taking the bus home. I took Steve's camera with me because it's nicer than mine, but, clearly, I haven't mastered the use of it yet. (I think it was on a manual setting. Boo.)

There is a great, old cemetery downtown.

In addition to excellent gravestones with the traditional symbols for the different trades, the cemetery has several of these wicked-looking trees.

The city art gallery and museum.

The dragon at the center of a local myth.

Desperate Dan, a very popular statue situated right in the middle of downtown in the pedestrian zone (I LOVE pedestrian zones).

This column with the unicorn on top indicates an old market location.

I had to laugh when I read the blog title and then saw the first picture of a cemetery.

Love the Medusa tree.

I love old cemeteries! Your new city looks lovely--I hate you! (kidding of course)

You're life is a fairy tale, albeit a chick-lit fairy tale, and I am envious.

Eliana--It is. Although, it's less blue in real life.

James--Please do. We have lots of beds.

Kirsten--Oops. I didn't even think of that.

Yankee Girl--It IS a nice city, although, of course, I didn't include pictures of, for example, the teenagers who wander over to our housing complex at lunch every day (we live across the street from their school) and litter the place up, making my head explode as I watch them throw trash at one another.

Heidi--Well, it's not exactly a fairy tale. I'm still waiting for our fabulous wealth to come along, but it's a nice life.

I love these pictures. It has always been my dream to visit Scotland (and Ireland too). Those pedestrian zones are great aren't they? Europe has the right idea:-)
