You're Killin' Me, Bureaucracy

The major happenings of our trip so far are as follows:

1. Our flight to Paris was overbooked. Having taken 3 buses and a train to arrive at the airport at 5:00 am and then discovering that the airline gave away our seats did not please us. Fortunately, it was peaceably resolved after the airline found us a later flight, compensated us with piles of cash, bumped us up to business class, and gave us access to the secret lounge full of free snacks and wi-fi.

2. I caught up on the movies I've been wanting to see on our 10 hour flight.

3. I love the South. We stayed Monday night in a darling, independent hotel across the street from the famous Fox Theatre in Atlanta. A man named Homeless Joe directed us to it. We ate biscuits and gravy and grits in the morning. Everyone held doors for us and cheerfully assisted us. So nice.

4. I have visited 4 government agencies in the last 24 hours to change my name on IDs and documents and deal with visa application mumbo jumbo. I hate taking a number and waiting in hard plastic chairs. I also hate my photograph on every single photo identification I own.

5. That's why I finally got a hair cut today.

6. My mom is the best cook.

7. (Better than your mom.)

8. Steve is wearing shorts. He likes them.

9. Tomorrow we leave for West Virginia.

10. That is all.

You always have such adventures. It's odd to feel jealous, grateful, and relieved.

Enjoy West V. Some days I miss that place.

This is 1/3 of why I never changed my name.
Congrats on the business class (and cash).
I am happy that you are back on this continent, however briefly.

Lady Susan--I liked The Young Victoria and The Blind Side. Also watched Valentines Day, which was the fluffy stuff I expected.
