I Like Toast

Today around 3:00 I discovered that while my tomato, potato, roasted red pepper, kale soup is delicious and nutritious, it will not sustain me all afternoon. It will sustain me for approximately 3 hours and then I will become so hungry that I'll start rummaging through my cupboards and drawers at work, searching for anything edible to gnaw on, because I'm fairly certain I'll start chewing on patrons' arms if I don't get something to eat ASAP. I'll even become so desperate that I'll eat the nasty taffy we couldn't get rid of by the end of last year's summer reading program and that I've been offering to our teen advisory group, but the taffy's so old and hard and unappealing that even our teens stopped accepting it as food even though, as far as I can tell, the members of our advisory group have the least discriminating palates in town. And while I spent most of the day feeling all patriotic and full of gratitude for idealism and a lack of assassination attempts during historic political events, I started feeling wicked mean with hunger by the time I was leaving work for the day, which is why it was so fantastic that my new, darling, travel shoes were waiting in my mailbox when I got home. Aren't they cute?

And, of course, the three pieces of toast I immediately consumed upon entering my kitchen probably helped.

Note to self: bring snacks to work.

Yes, they're Keens, which you can get for 1/2 off (or more) at Back Country.

Good shoe choice. You will never be sorry. And toast is wise as well.
