This Old House

We crossed the border back into the US today (with only a short trip inside for the agents to scare me and scold me for not having my ID activated).

Our trip to Canada this summer was primarily to start building a house for Steve's parents. The construction got started later than we anticipated and will continue for another month, but this is what was accomplished in the last two weeks.

This is Steve's grandparents' old house.

The old house came down.

Then there was no house.

Steve helped the contractor pour the footings for the new house. (Steve LOVES the contractor. He says he's the Julius of Nova Scotia.)

This week the new house will have a basement.

Exciting, eh? I helped at the construction site one day, but mostly I'm a pansy and stayed home reading and eating Steve's birthday cake leftovers while Steve slaved away at the construction site.

That is exactly what I did today! Sweets and books, what could be better? Thanks for the pictures. I laughed when I saw the room I painted and stayed in ripped in half!
