Hey, It's an Announcement

I hate the smell of our new flat and I'm suspicious of the water.   Pretty sure the water is poisoned, and I fill up my water bottle at the university whenever I can in order to decrease the effects of my contaminated kitchen.  Steve doesn't think it's as much of a problem as I do.  He says I might not feel so strongly about it, if it weren't for my condition, but I'm pretty sure I'd find our flat smelly even if I weren't pregnant.

I am hoping and praying your baby will speak with a thick Scottish accent.

I liked to bury my face in laundry detergent to fight the ever-present smells when I was pregnant.

My friend's sister gave birth in Scotland. Their marriage certificate was in storage in the U.S., so they were unable to prove the baby was legitimate, four or five other children notwithstanding. I don't remember exactly what the birth certificate said in the end. Anyway, the father took to referring to the poor boy as his "bastard child." Hopefully you won't have the same difficulty. On the other hand, it is a pretty good story.

Amy, your comment made me gag, even all these years after my last (several-months-long) bout of morning sickness because that is JUST WRONG. (Having said that, though, I have to admit that Stove Top Stuffing smelled great to me, which is also wrong.) Also I stopped eating potatoes because I thought they might be poisonous, which just goes to show that pregnancy-related paranoia (water, potatoes, whatever) is genetically transmitted. Small Scottish babies had better be headed out west for a visit before too long (I still have a crib).

Yay for babies! How far along are you?

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Amy--This baby is only staying in Scotland for 2 months, so s/he will have to be a quick study on the language to speak with a Scottish accent. Laundry soap makes me gag, but I like to smell marshmallows to make me feel better.

CSIowa--We have about 8 marriage certificates lying around, so we should be okay on that front.

SCS--I have instructed Steve that his much longed for puppy will not become a reality until after I get a trip to Utah, so I hope that will speed up our visit to you.

Stash--About 12.5 weeks along. Baby's due sometime in January.

I was SO confused, reading this over and over - like, did I miss the post where she said she was pregnant??! Then I saw the title again and I realized what was going on. You totally got me. Congratulations! Smells are the bane of life when you're pregnant.

Now you can bust out the teeny tiny wellies and other cool items! Many congrats--if you're 12.5 weeks, hopefully the sickness will subside soon.
