Garden Time, Kids

Most of the live plants we ordered in May came in the mail last week.  Seventy-five strawberry plants, amazingly, come all together in a very small plastic bag.  Steve planted them and they look like tiny sticks in the ground.  He also planted our asparagus, and we have three cherry trees and a blueberry bush to get in the ground this week.

Steve broke down and bought a watering can, since we no longer have an outside spigot, and The Bairn likes to wear it on his face and have me pretend that it's his house by knocking on it and asking to come in his 'wee small door.'

Yesterday I harvested a few stalks of this season's rhubarb to make a strawberry rhubarb pie.  I sent half of it to a friend's house because she's recovering from knee replacement surgery (most of my friends in Canada are over 60), but now I regret that decision, because all the pie I saved for us is gone.

Todd talks about rhubarb endlessly these days. I want a picture of the kid and his wee small door.
I'm happy it is spring in your northern land.
